Francestown residents Kelly Marshall and Nichole DeDecker have been working with two of our classroom teachers to plan our Outdoor Lions Learning (OLL) Time. Once a month, the FES Lions spend the whole morning (from arrival until noon) learning outside. On Thursday November 21, we had our first OLL experience. We began by gathering in a clearing in the woods for all-school Morning Meeting. From there, we split into our OLL multiage teams and rotated through 5 outdoor learning stations. Students measured things in nature, built community by creating mandalas, engaged in woods play, sketched in their science journals, and studied what different NH animals do in the winter. With rosy cheeks and hearty appetites, the students headed back inside to enjoy a wonderful Harvest Feast with families.
